Purpose

To provide clarity for what should trigger an after-hour response from a Staff Chief Officer.

Policy/Procedure:

Any response to an incident after a Staff Chief's normal work schedule requires approval from the Fire Chief or his/her designee. Exceptions to this are the following incidents, which should be an automatic response by the Staff Deputy Chiefs:

• Second Alarm incident or greater
• Firefighter fatality
• Civilian fatality

For the above listed incidents, the Staff Deputy Chiefs may approve additional response to assist at the incident scene, fill-in at Battalions, or at fire dispatch.
