Directive: Reentry Training Program Clarification and Update
This directive serves to clarify and update the Reentry Training Program requirements.
Department members who have been away from line operations for more than 180 days must:
- Track Time Away: Take responsibility for calculating and monitoring their time off from line operations
- Schedule Reentry Training: Contact the Training Bureau to arrange reentry training at least 30 days prior to reaching 180 days off the line.
- Maintain Equipment Readiness: Ensure all department-issued equipment remains in a Report for any additional training and/or equipment fitting as directed by appropriate authority.
- Comply with Additional Requirements: Report for any additional training and/or equipment fitting as directed by appropriate authority.
Members who are unable to return to line operations due to medical restrictions, military orders, or other legitimate circumstances – as determined by the Fire Chief or their designee – are exempt from the requirements during their period of unavailability. Upon receiving approval to return, they must complete all reentry training requirements outline above.
This directive will be implemented as a non-emergency procedure within the next 180 days.
