The Director’s Report has been updated and is found on the recently activated Toledo Fire website. The form is mostly identical to the previous version but addresses a few additional concerns.
This is to be used exclusively from this point onward until it might be replaced.
Upon submitting the report, it will be distributed via email to all the previous recipients. The reports are automatically archived and are available on the website also.
The narrative is broken into sections so to add uniformity among reports written at 1500 hr. versus 0300 hr. and to ensure that some specific issues are always addressed.
Two additional topics in the new report are based upon a need for enhanced emphasis:
Salvage:
- This is an important aspect to fireground operations that should always be considered once the incident is deemed under control. Property conservation becomes the priority as we transition from active firefighting. We need to be aware, competent, and motivated to accomplish this at every incident where it is applicable.
Tailboard Debriefings:
- These are important opportunities to learn from actual experience, both good and less than good; to commend and/or redirect future efforts. The ability to gather the exact combination of members who are at the incident becomes a difficult task once the incident terminates. These debriefings should occur on a regular basis and this is reflected by being documented on the new Director’s Report form.
