The Fire Chief has agreed that specific overtime (recall) requests can be made for paramedic officers. This is to be used when the circumstances will reduce the number of relief assignments necessitated by the recall of a non-paramedic officer.
An example would be when a paramedic officer calls off and is the only paramedic on that crew for that tour which would require sending a firefighter out from their bid and a paramedic brought in from their bid if a non-paramedic officer accepted the recall request.
This directive is meant to make the filling of certain positions easier by reducing the relief movement of line personnel. It is not meant to be utilized when there is no specific reason for requesting an additional paramedic officer.
